Tractor pulling

Zero subtlety.

Tractor pulling lands in Chéserex — two kilometres from Trélex. Tractors stuffed with turbos drag a sled whose weight slides forward as it moves, until the machine bogs down or tears everything apart. It smells of hot oil and you can hear it from the village. We are going as a group.

The discipline

What is tractor pulling?

The principle fits in one sentence: pull a sled as far as you can, while it gets harder and harder to pull. The rest is engineering pushed to the absurd — and that is exactly why we love it.

The track

A strip of packed earth. Reaching the end is a "full pull". Few manage it.

The sled

A weight that slides forward during the pull. The further you go, the harder it crushes you.

The engines

From boosted farm diesel to aircraft V8s. Some machines stack several engines.

The classes

Standard classes, closer to a farm tractor, and sport classes, frankly off the scale.

Ear protection is mandatory. That is not a figure of speech: two metres from the line, a sport-class engine is physically painful. Plugs or muffs — and proper muffs for children.

The event

Chéserex, 21 – 23 Aug 2026

A round of the Swiss championship, run by Pulling Team La Côte under the Swiss Tractor Pulling Association. The ASTP notes that the event returns to the region after a long break — so we are not about to miss it.

  1. Friday 21 The grounds open. No competition — this is paddock day: machines up close and mechanics at work.
  2. Saturday 22 Competition. This is the day the club is aiming for: more runs, more people, better atmosphere.
  3. Sunday 23 Competition and closing.

  6. Admission Price not announced so far. Bring cash: at this kind of event, admission and the food stand are often cash only.to confirm

About the Facebook page you could not find: that is normal. Pulling Team La Côte has no public page for this edition. Online, the event exists only in the ASTP's official calendar. The poster near Trélex is real — the web presence simply does not exist. We will update this page as soon as we get timings, address and price from the organiser.
